email:kdrumm@wolfbearinstitute.org

Kris Drumm, M.S.W. has been working as a facilitator, social group worker, advocate, counselor, program developer, trainer and activist for 25 years. Her work has encompassed domestic violence, bias crime, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender rights, issues of aging and ageism, death and dying.

As Women's Program Coordinator and Group Worker at Senior Action in a Gay Environment in New York City, Kris created and directed "Old Queers Acting Up", a theater ensemble of LBGT seniors to educate the public and the community on issues of ageism and homophobia.

Throughout her career, Kris has worked with victims of domestic violence and as an educator on the issue on local, state and national levels. As Domestic Violence Program Coordinator at the NYC Gay & Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, she provided individual and group counseling to battered lesbians, gay men and people of transgender experience. In addition, Kris has provided sensitivity and cultural competence training to many agencies.

Kris's undergraduate studies focused on the use of educational theater and along with Dr. Telesco has presented several sociodrama workshops and presentations exploring the dynamics of ageism, homophobia, trans-phobia, racism, sexism and "able-ism" using drama techniques.

Kris considers herself to be an Affirmation Artist and uses positive imagery in her work with people. She is a poet, writer, sculptor and drummer who believes in the power of the mind to change, create and direct the conditions of our lives.

As a writer, Kris has also collaborated in the creative writing of music, some of which has been recorded. One song which you may be familiar with is "Mother Beat", a poem put to music and performed by Ubaka Hill on the album "Shapeshifters" by Ladyslipper Productions.

She is a published author of papers and articles on Domestic Violence, Social Work with groups, and working with elder LGBT people.

As Executive Director of WOLFBEAR Institute, Kris is working towards the liberation of all people, on all levels of being.  Her spirituality, knowledge, strength and devotion infuse all of WOLFBEAR's endeavors.
